Jerry Seinfeld charges over $100,000 for corporate appearances, and yet he regularly makes appearances at local NYC comedy clubs for chump change.
Jay Leno hosts the Tonight Show for millions of dollars a year, but you can see him at the Hermosa Beach Comedy & Magic Club every Sunday night.
Why do successful comedians perform at weekly venues?
Because weekly venues give them the valuable opportunity to polish their craft, keep their skills sharp, and try new, untested material in front of a forgiving audience.
For the last 7 years, I’ve performed tableside magic every week at restaurants throughout Southern California. I don’t do it for the money. I do it because I want to be the best magician in Los Angeles!
At my restaurants, I can perform a new trick nearly 50 times a week. Within a few weeks, I’ll know if that new trick is ready for my corporate magic shows, or if I should dump it and try something else.
Weekly Venues Make You Better
Have you seen this video? When it was shot, I’d performed this trick about 200 times. Now I’ve done it well over 5,000 times. If you saw me do it now, you’d be BLOWN AWAY by how much it has improved. It’s now a MAJOR part of my strolling magic repertoire.
