As an experienced Los Angeles mentalist, I’ve performed for corporate audiences throughout Southern California, but few settings match the energy of a professional sports match. On Saturday, July 12, 2025, I returned to work with the LA Galaxy. This time, they wanted a strolling magic and mentalism performance for their premium ticket holders in the Kia Champions Lounge at their home stadium, the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
I entertained the VIPs before kickoff and again at halftime of the team’s home match against D.C. United.

The Booking

This one didn’t come out of nowhere. Back on February 11, 2025, I performed a mentalism stage show for the LA Galaxy’s players and staff at a private team event in La Quinta, California. That show was a big success, and the team’s director of team operations had his staff reach out about a very different kind of booking: entertaining the club’s premium ticket holders during a home match.
The format was a big shift. Instead of performing on stage with world-class athletes, I’d be working the room, performing close-up magic and mentalism for small groups as they mixed, mingled, and enjoyed the lounge’s food and drink service.
Reading the Room

The Venue and the Crowd
The Kia Champions Lounge is heavily branded for the club, with a trophy wall and a partially open wall where fans can high-five players as they walk from the locker room to the pitch. It’s an upscale social space with some amazing perks. The VIP season tickets aren’t cheap, so most guests were adults enjoying a VIP night out, but there was a handful of families as well. Regardless of age or background, everyone there was a dedicated fan.
Matching the Material to the Moment
I don’t usually perform for an all-ages crowd, so I adjusted my approach group by group. For adults, I leaned into mentalism. It’s more impactful and memorable with grown-up audiences. When kids or louder pockets of the room were involved, I shifted to visual sleight-of-hand magic, which plays better in a noisy, high-energy environment.
One thing I’ve learned over the last 20 years is that a true professional should adjust their material to fit the room. Be flexible! Perform the material that will land best with the atmosphere, energy, and specific group in front of you.
Working the Room, Group by Group

Pacing is important with strolling entertainment. I spent roughly 5–10 minutes with each small group before moving on, aiming to reach as many guests as possible without any performance feeling rushed. Each group was a new chance to connect and amaze.
Some guests knew ahead of time that I’d be there and asked me over to their tables. Others had no idea I’d be there at all. I’m assuming they didn’t read the promotional email the LA Galaxy had sent. Speaking of…
Promoting the Appearance

Ahead of the event, the team asked for high-resolution photos and my logo so they could promote my appearance to their premium ticket holders.
I have a Dropbox link with high-resolution promo material for all of my clients. so I quickly sent over the link. Within a few days, their design team had built a promotional graphic from scratch using my name and photo alongside the Galaxy’s own branding and fonts.
I love how it turned out!
Arrival and Access
I arrived at the stadium by 4:30, well ahead of my 5:00 PM call time. The director of premium sales and service met me, got me set up with credentials, and walked me into the lounge.
I was fully set up and ready to go nearly an hour before showtime, which is exactly how I like it. I’d rather be early than late. When the match started, I got to enjoy the game from some excellent seats right in center field. It was a great view!

The Best Part of the Night
The game was a blast, but my favorite part of the night was bringing laughter and amazement to the fans. They came out expecting a great match and got something extra.
Results
This event was itself a form of proof: it came directly out of the success of the earlier team stage show in La Quinta. I’m glad that the LA Galaxy’s director of team operations liked my performance enough to bring me back for an entirely different kind of engagement.
During the Champions Lounge event itself, the director of premium sales and service told me directly that my performances were very well received by the guests. In the days after, several members of the LA Galaxy organization reached out to connect with me on LinkedIn.

A Note on Strolling Magic and Mentalism
Strolling entertainment is a totally different discipline than a stage show. I started my career performing strolling magic in upscale L.A. restaurants and Hollywood night clubs, and I quickly learned that the real art wasn’t the tricks (although those have to be REALLY good), it was learning how to work a room.
There’s a real skill to knowing who to approach and when, how to be charming and put people at ease quickly, how to tell whether a room calls for mentalism or visual sleight-of-hand, and knowing when to move on before you’ve overstayed your welcome. None of that comes from a magic book or an acting class. It comes from experience.
