Los Angeles Mentalist FAQ

What is a mentalist?

A mentalist is an entertainer who uses magic, psychology and showmanship to influence audience member’s thoughts and create the illusion of mind reading. Unlike magic, mentalism is most appreciated by adults.

Is a mentalist appropriate for corporate events?

Yes! Over 80% of Joe’s bookings are for company events, conferences, and associations. As one of the busiest mentalists in Los Angeles, Joe Skilton knows how to impress smart audiences. Your group will be in excellent hands.

Is mentalism appropriate for children?

Not really. Although there is nothing offensive in Joe’s show, the program is designed to entertain and astonish adults. If you’re looking to entertain children, a magician would be a much better fit. Especially if they have a bunny. :-)

Are the audience members “in on it?”

Absolutely not! Joe never uses actors, stooges, or hidden assistants, and he never meets with people in secret before the show. Everything that happens on stage is spontaneous and unrehearsed. There are no hidden electronics or earpieces.

How much does it cost to have Joe at our event?

Shows cost thousands, not hundreds. As an experienced Los Angeles mentalist, Joe has multiple show options for a wide range of budgets. Contact Joe for a no-obligation written quote!

How long is Joe’s performance?

Shows run between 20-75 minutes, per client discretion. Strolling entertainment (for cocktail receptions) is typically 2-3 hours in duration.

We have a smart crowd. Can Joe impress our group?

Joe frequently entertains C-level executives, valued clients, and top-performing employees. He’s also entertained multiple A-list celebrities, often in their private homes. When you hire Joe, you’re getting a Los Angeles mentalist who knows how to amaze, impress, and move in polite company

Does Joe offer ticketed shows in Los Angeles?

Joe occasionally performs at the following theaters in Southern California:

Illusion Magic Lounge – Santa Monica, CA
Marvyn’s Magic Theater – La Quinta, CA

Does Joe travel to events outside of Los Angeles?
